Today is the 43rd year that Martial Law was enacted in my country by Ferdinand Marcos via Presidential Order No. 1081 which effectively suspended the basic rights guaranteed by the 1935 Constitution; here, the rights to assembly, habeus corpus, bear arms and freedom of expression were forfeited for an indefinite time until the government deemed it safe.
